marks the TENTH installment of our annual production featuring the work of local and national choreographers making American vernacular dance.

CHOREOGRAPHERS: Applications (form below) for the opportunity present choreography in Rhythmically Speaking 10/ 2018 are now being accepted! They are due on Friday, February 16, and 2018 choreographers will be selected by a panel of dance community members by Friday, March 16.
Rhythmically Speaking presents some of the Twin Cities’ best American vernacular choreography each year, also supporting our community by welcoming guests from other cities to share their ideas with us. We always look forward to seeing what people have to offer: artists (18+) at any point in their careers are welcomed to apply with new or existing work based in and inspired by American vernacular dance forms like jazz, tap, hip-hop styles, etc. We are thrilled to support the development of work in these styles, and encourage you to join their ongoing conversation by applying.

- August 13-15: Tech (slots scheduled for each choreographer)
- August 16-18: Shows (at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis, 7:30pm 8/16 – 8/18 and 2pm 8/18)
Compensation: This commission includes full presentation support including rental of at a favorite local venue, a full technical staff, and major marketing efforts by Rhythmically Speaking, as well as an honorarium of at least $1,400.00.
Details: Submitted work can be between three and thirty minutes, and submissions of ten minutes or more are strongly encouraged. A video sample that best represents the work being submitted is required. If the submission is a reconstruction, the submitted video should be of that work. If submission is a new work, video of previously created work in a similar style should be submitted. Work samples must be submitted via YouTube and set as ‘Unlisted’ (visit this link for how-to). Please submit only one video of up to five minutes of work: montages welcome, through video of a single piece is encouraged. Please limit the text you submit to the amount of space provided on the form, keeping the application to a single page, and send in PDF file format with the follow title convention: RS18 Submission – Lastname. Ex: RS18 Submission – Jones.
