Call for Choreography Submissions:
Rhythmically Speaking 2015, Running August 20-22 at Bedlam Lowertown!

Rhythmically Speaking is excited to be accepting submissions for our 7th annual choreographers showcase! We support some of the Twin Cities’ best jazz and rhythm-driven dance each year, and look forward to seeing what you have to offer. We also support these forms in Minnesota and the nation alike by welcoming new ideas from guests from other cities! Emerging and established choreographers alike are encouraged to apply with new or existing work in jazz and rhythm-based dance. Not sure what we mean by jazz and rhythm-based dance? You tell us. We are proud to help create what that means to this community, and encourage you to join the ongoing conversation by applying! Please pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested.

– August 2: Mandatory progress showing (7-9pm)/ Program Info Due

A joint project of Molly Stoltz, Bob DeBoer and Erinn Liebhard/ Rhythmically Speaking, Visual Grooves supports musician and dancer collaborations to create newly-minted groovy, rhythmic work. The first installment of Visual Grooves will feature three partnerships: guitarist/composer Ben Abrahamson and dancer/choreographer Ruth Glaeser, brass band Brasszilla and tap dancer Molly Kay Stoltz, and the band Dichotomy featuring Alex Kaufmann and Matt Marka with choreographer Jennifer Mack. Come ready not only to watch dance, but to eat, drink and be merry; food and drink are available throughout the night, and each musical group plus a featured band will play a set!

The artists for the first installment of this project were chosen to create new works based on their passion for rhythm-driven music and dance and their commitment to creating and fostering relationships within the local music and dance scene. The project is an expansion of events with the GST band held under the same name in the summer of 2013. We look forward to watching this project blossom!
